4-6 T-ball | Rules

OBJECTIVE:

To instruct and train the young player in the basics of the game in a fun, low-key, competitive atmosphere. The emphasis in this program should be on proper technique in throwing, catching, and base running, hitting and learning very basic knowledge of the game and fielding positions. At no time should winning or losing take priority over equal playing time, time player safety, player improvement, or FUN. Encourage each player to set and attain both personal and team oriented goals. Teaching kids the desire to excel should be the main purpose.

LOCAL RULES:

1. Batting helmets must be worn.

2. Games will be one (1) hour in length or three (3) innings.

3. Once an inning has been started, it must be finished.

4. The score will not be kept.

5. The home team will occupy the 3rd base side and the visiting team will occupy the 1st base side.

6. All protests during a game will be handled by the coordinator working that night.

7. If a game is played and there is a weather delay/ cancellation and that game is over an hour long, that will be considered a “full game.”

8. For any player substitution:

      a. That player must be a registered player in the league for that age division.

      b. The player who is subbing for the team, must bat last and play in the outfield.

BATTING RULES:

1. The whole team will bat.

2. Bunting is not allowed.

3. There will be NO strike outs.

4. Batters are not allowed to swing until the pitcher makes a pitching motion.

5. All bats can be used.

BASE RUNNING RULES:

1. No leading off.

2. No stealing.

3. No head first sliding.

4. Runners may only advance on a live ball.

5. If a player is out at any base, except home, they must return to the dugout.

6. One extra base will be allowed on any overthrow.

DEFENSIVE RULES:

1. All players will play defense.

2. All players must play the infield at least one (1) inning per game.

3. No catchers for this league; however a player will act as “catcher” and must wear a batting helmet.

COACHING RULES:

1. The team that is batting may have one (1) coach helping out with batting.

2. The coach(es) must monitor the batting lineup to make sure that everyone hits that inning.

3. Batting coaches are responsible for removing the tee so that advancing runners can easily cross home plate.

4. The defensive team may have as many coaches as necessary on the field helping.
